NEW YORK, May 9, 2023 [crocon media – dgoldsmith] Atari, one of the world’s most revered consumer brands and producers of interactive entertainment, is set to add a new gem to its impressive gaming portfolio. The company has announced the imminent release of Mr. Run and Jump, a vividly colourful and action-packed platformer that is all set to take players on a thrilling neon journey.
In Mr. Run and Jump, players are catapulted into the vibrant Realms of Color, navigating through a high-paced, fluorescent adventure in search of Leap, the missing dog of the eponymous character. The game presents a formidable challenge, demanding quick reflexes, skillful movement, and strategic planning to overcome treacherous enemies and a host of demanding obstacles.
Designed with the modern speedrunner in mind, Mr. Run and Jump features meticulously precise controls and seamless gameplay, integrating free-flowing level design with a dynamic difficulty level adjustment feature. This ensures an optimal experience for both seasoned and novice players, catering to a broad spectrum of gaming preferences.
The game’s backstory is an homage to the golden era of gaming. Originally designed in 2021 as an Atari 2600 game by John Mikula of St. Louis-based indie studio Graphite Lab, Mr. Run and Jump showcases the enduring appeal of the legacy 2600 hardware, even 40+ years after its release. The teams at Atari and Graphite Lab were so captivated by the original game that they decided to recreate a modern version for contemporary consoles and PCs, thereby preserving the best elements of the 2600 title while incorporating a stunning landscape of color and sound.
Matt Raithel, the Owner and Studio Director at Graphite Lab, expressed his excitement about the game’s introduction to a global audience. He praised the unique amalgamation of dazzling animation, intense platforming, and approachable characters that contribute to the game’s overall appeal.
Mr. Run and Jump boasts a plethora of unique features, including dozens of unique levels within six distinct, vibrant, and beautifully illustrated worlds; a variety of cunning enemies, each with their own attack patterns and personalities; and over 30+ hours of gameplay, incorporating Time Trials, hard-to-reach collectibles, achievements, and more.
Developed by Graphite Lab and Heavy Horse Games, Mr. Run and Jump is set to launch later this summer on Windows PC via Steam and Epic, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One and Series X|S, and Atari VCS.
